JSR Sponsors the 22nd Physical Society of Japan "Jr. Session" and Presents the JSR Award

As part of its social contribution activities aimed at supporting the development of the next generation, JSR Corporation sponsored the "22nd Jr. Session" organized by the Physical Society of Japan (JPS). In addition, JSR presented the JSR Award to high school teams that delivered outstanding presentations. The Jr. Session is an annual event established in 2005, providing a platform for high school students to present their research in physics. At this 22nd session, 87 teams from across the country presented their findings. Following an evaluation by the Jr. Session Committee, the winners were selected, and an awards ceremony was held on March 21 at the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. The 22nd JSR Award was presented to two schools: Sapporo Kaisei Secondary School and Hyogo Prefectural Nagata High School.
Yutaka Yoshimoto, Senior Officer, attended the awards ceremony representing JSR Corporation. In his speech, he addressed a question the students might have had: "Why is a chemical company like JSR presenting an award in physics?" He explained that deep insights into physics, alongside chemistry, are essential for developing the cutting-edge semiconductor materials in which JSR excels. He also mentioned that several members of the Physical Society of Japan have been awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, conveying the excitement of connecting different disciplines beyond academic boundaries. Finally, he offered words of encouragement to the students in their ongoing explorations, stating, "I want you to know that companies like ours can serve as a future stage where you can actively apply your knowledge of physics." During the acceptance speeches, the students' impressive confidence and enthusiasm left a lasting impression. We have great expectations for the future endeavors of all the participants.
The JSR Group will continue to contribute to society through initiatives that foster the development of the next generation.
